Cambodia

As an American growing up in the 70s and 80s, you can’t think of Cambodia without thinking about The Killing Fields, and the violence and terror inflicted on the Cambodian people by the Khmer Rouge. Estimates as high as 30% of the Cambodian population were killed during that time, and during my visit the subject was brought up again and again. But so was the topic of education, the growth of micro-industries, and work by charitable organizations to remove land mines which still populate the landscape.
